Alvarion® Expands Presence in Africa with Opening of Two Service Centres, Showcases WiMAX™ Portfolio

Continued growth in Africa with more than 60 WiMAX networks commercially deployed in over 30 African countries

Tel Aviv, Nov. 05, 2009 — Alvarion Ltd. (NASDAQ:ALVR), the world’s leading provider of WiMAX and wireless broadband solutions, today underscored its commitment to the Africa market, announcing the opening of two new service centers and it’s presence at the exhibition next week at AfricaCom 2009 (November 11-12, at Cape Town Convention Center in South Africa, booth D08). With more than 60 WiMAX networks commercially deployed in more than 30 African countries, Alvarion builds on its strong heritage enabling wireless and broadband services in Africa and dedication to operator customers by establishing two service centers in Nairobi, Kenya and Dakar, Senegal. These centers are using Alvarion qualified and certified Field Engineers to complete Alvarion’s’ service portfolio and give our customer immediate response from these local offices. In addition, these technical centers will provide WiMAX training for specific customers and enhance local WiMAX competency on Alvarion’s network across the region.

During AfricaCom, Alvarion will showcase its new BreezeMAX® Extreme 5000 the industry’s first 802.16e WiMAX all-in-one, all-outdoor solution for the 5 GHz frequency license-exempt market. This market-leading solution’s high-scalability, flexibility and robust performance will be key for delivering broadband applications required to enable safety of cities, protection of critical assets and enhancement of homeland security operations. The BreezeMAX Extreme 5000 brings a standardized WiMAX carrier-class solution to WISPs utilizing license exempt frequency for an improved ROI and business case. It is also an all-in one solution for multiple market segments such as public safety, municipalities, and other industrials as oil and gas, and mining. In addition, Alvarion will also showcase BreezeMAX Macro Outdoor, an outdoor carrier-class WiMAX 802.16e certified solution for wireless access at licensed frequencies, that is an integral part of the 4Motion® solution. Alvarion’s rich device portfolio will be on display at the booth as well.
