Altitude Telecom to Build Wireless Broadband Network in France Using Alvarion’s WiMAX-Based Platform
For Delivery of Critical Voice and Data Services to Corporate and SME Users Tel-Aviv, Israel, September 23, 2004 - Alvarion Ltd. (NASDAQ:ALVR), the global leader in wireless broadband solutions, and Altitude Telecom, a private and independent telecommunications operator, today announced the signing of an agreement and the receipt of an initial order for the deployment of an advanced wireless broadband network across France.
Altitude Telecom will deploy Alvarion's BreezeMAX™, to build a nationwide network using their 3.5GHz spectrum. Based on WiMAX Forum™ profiles, the BreezeMAX provides operators the ultimate flexibility to serve a variety of business and residential customers cost effectively. As the only current operator with a license to operate in the 3.5GHz throughout France, Altitude will offer broadband connectivity to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well large businesses for both LAN and VoIP services. The 3.5 GHz network will complement and upgrade the existing wireless telecommunications infrastructure, including an increased customer base and enhanced services.
Initially Altitude Telecom’s BreezeMAX network will be rolled out in four counties, the first to be Vendee (Vendée département) with plans for additional counties within a year.
