Alvarion Extends BreezeACCESS™ VL To Russia And Asia Pacific With 5.2 GHz System
Employing OFDM Technology, Product Eases Installation of Broadband Services to Businesses and Residences, Increases Service Range in Urban and Foliage-Dense Environments Tel – Aviv, Israel, May 12, 2004 – Alvarion Ltd. (NASDAQ: ALVR), the global leader in wireless broadband solutions, today announced its new BreezeACCESS™ VL system for the 5.2GHz frequency band, a frequency that has become available in Russia and a number of countries in Asia Pacific. This is the latest in Alvarion’s BreezeACCESS VL family of products for the 5GHz bands, an ideal solution for bringing broadband services to small to medium enterprises (SME) and residential customers especially in regions where xDSL and cable broadband services are inadequate.
Cedicom, one of Alvarion's partners in the Russian market, will soon begin field trials for the 5.2GHz VL with RM Telecom and Krypton, two of Russia’s most prominent Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
As with all BreezeACCESS VL products, the 5.2 GHz system features exceptional non-line-of-sight (NLOS) capabilities that give it outstanding coverage in urban and foliage-dense environments, helping operators increase their range while reducing installation costs. The system’s cutting edge technology further simplifies installation and automatically maximizes link performance.
An extension of the BreezeACCESS family of products, the 5.2 GHz VL leverages the advanced features and management system common to all BreezeACCESS products and already enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of users worldwide. The BreezeACCESS VL’s broad range of features also include quality of service (QoS) mechanisms, bridging with protocol filtering, VLAN support, security with authentication and data encryption, and extensive SNMP based management features with remote software download.
“This latest addition to the BreezeACCESS family brings the same high-coverage, high-capacity solution to Russia and Asia Pacific that has proven itself in other regions of the world,” said Zvi Slonimsky, CEO of Alvarion. “The product’s advanced features are designed to help operators reduce their costs, enabling them to compete profitably in competitive markets. The 5.2GHz VL further demonstrates our continued commitment to support all BWA operators around the globe, whether operating in licensed or unlicensed bands and with standard or proprietary based solutions, with powerful, flexible, scalable, and economically-compelling products.”
