Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Selects InnoWave to Supply Advanced Fixed Wireless Access Solution
$13 Million Phase One Contract for the MultiGain Wireless Petach Tikva, ISRAEL, July 2001 - InnoWave ECI Wireless Systems Ltd., a global leader of Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solutions and an ECI Telecom company (NASDAQ/NM symbol: ECIL) recently won a contract for supplying Botswana Telecom Corporation (BTC) with the MultiGain Wireless (MGW), the company's advanced FWA solution.
The implementation of phase one of the $13 million contract commenced in April 2001 and is targeted for completion by April 2002. The MGW installations will cover urban, suburban and remote regions of the country and will operate over a 3.5GHz frequency band.
MGW will meet BTC's growing subscriber demand for reliable communications, connecting the Botswana capital Gaborone as well as numerous remote cities, towns & villages throughout the country. The deal was concluded by Global Telecom, InnoWave's regional partner.
"Several MGW features enabled us to win this contract," says Hezi Lapid, President and CEO of InnoWave. "The system's proven performance record, with more than 450,000 lines installed in over 45 countries, in addition to its flexibility, rapid deployment and cost-effectiveness, helped us to secure the contract," Lapid adds. "We are enthusiastic about cooperating with BTC and are extremely pleased to have them as valued customers."
"By helping us to meet subscriber demand for more lines and more services, InnoWave is an integral part of our growth strategy," says Deputy Chief Executive of BTC, Letsapa Mojaphoko. "We look forward to seeing the MGW in action and are certain that the equipment will live up to our expectations. The BTC-InnoWave partnership promises to be a productive one,"
Deployed worldwide, MGW is a scalable system that enables rapid, cost-effective implementation of in-demand communications services, such as toll quality voice, high speed Voice Band Data (VBD) and ISDN-BRI. Ideal for ILECs and CLECs alike, MGW is designed for urban, suburban and rural environments. Its modular, flexible architecture assures fast deployment in all topographies. The system's scalability enables low initial investment, and further expenditure in line with network growth and subscriber demand. Using FH-CDMA technology and advanced multiplexing techniques, the MGW offers optimum spectrum utilization. It supports a wide range of frequency bands - from 800MHz to 3.8GHz - and both analog and digital interfaces.
