Clearsky Broadband Selects BreezeCOM Equipment To Support Nationwide Deployment Efforts

TEL AVIV, Israel/CARLSBAD, CA, March 13, 2001 – BreezeCOM (NASDAQ: BRZE), a leader in the design and manufacture of high-speed wireless access solutions, and ClearSky Broadband, an alternative service provider specializing in the delivery of high-speed Internet access direct to business users, have joined efforts where BreezeCOM’s BreezeACCESS II® equipment will provide the wireless infrastructure in support of ClearSky’s nationwide network deployment efforts.

ClearSky expects to spend over $7.4 million in support of its network rollout this year. Initial launch plans include service to 27 metropolitan markets by year’s end, with quick expansion of services into surrounding rural communities. Product shipments began in December and will continue through 2001. Systems integrator WFI is assisting with network installation.

Based in Washington State, ClearSky Broadband is a rapidly expanding wireless company offering advanced wireless technologies that are changing the way the world thinks about the Internet. Currently deploying their broadband network, the Company has systems operating in Arizona and Washington with plans to expand in to Texas, Florida and Nevada over the next six months.

With pilots in three distinctive test markets, Tri-Cities, WA, Yakima, WA and the greater Scottsdale/Phoenix area, ClearSky has over 200 subscribers ready to go on line. “We selected these test markets as they provided all the major deployment challenges we face going forward,” stated Dave Thomas, president of ClearSky Broadband.

“Tri-Cities is an area where other services such as cable modems and DSL are not available and a prime location for a wireless solution. Yakima is a rural community with no existing service, wired or otherwise, so we are able to measure how quickly and easily we can expand into these areas, and Scottsdale/Phoenix is a large metropolitan area with a high concentration of existing wireless service providers so we are able to thoroughly test interference concerns.”

An alternative to costly access services offered by phone and cable companies, ClearSky uses a cellular topology to deliver high-speed broadband communications with no phone company fees – a huge benefit to cost-conscientious customers. The ClearSky service model results in quicker deployments and faster availability of services to customers.

ClearSky’s networks operate in the 2.4 GHz licensed-free ISM band using BreezeCOM’s BreezeACCESS II frequency hopping wireless equipment. “We did our homework,” explained Thomas. “After looking at all the options, we found BreezeACCESS II provided the speed and network flexibility we needed, but more importantly it was virtually immune to interference.”
