Broadband Wireless Access Systems from Floware Now Offer Increased Bandwidth and Faster Speeds
Floware's WALKair 3000 To Be Unveiled at CeBIT Or Yehuda, Israel, March 5, 2001 Floware Wireless Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: FLRE) today announced that it will unveil the new WALKair 3000 Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system at CeBIT (Hall 17, stand number C43). WALKair 3000, the latest addition to the WALKair Broadband Wireless Access product range, will support a speed of 34 Megabit per second (Mbps) per single user, providing a meaningful advantage for new carriers who compete with incumbent telecom operators on providing local access to customers.
Broadband Wireless Access is becoming the infrastructure of choice for new carriers in deregulated telecom markets looking to provide a competitive last mile solution for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) and Multi Tenant Units (MTU). Increasingly favoured over DSL, fibre, cable modems and satellite, BWA enables new carriers to offer business customers an alternative access solution to that currently available from the incumbent telecom companies. Floware's current WALKair BWA system is already being used in over 60 installations in more than 30 countries by new carriers, including FirstMark and ArcTel (Arcor-Mannesmann/ Teligent) in Germany, Abrared and FirstMark in Spain, and Novis and Teleweb in Portugal. The major increase in bandwidth (34Mb/sec), which will be available through WALKair 3000, will serve the needs of current and potential carriers looking to offer alwaysonbroadband connections and other telecom services to businesses.
Most importantly, WALKair 3000 and its benefits can be easily integrated into existing WALKair installations enabling new carriers to provide tailor made local loop connectivity for all businesses, regardless of their size or bandwidth requirements. The two systems can address different types of customers from the same base station: the new WALKair 3000 supports bandwidth hungry users of up to 34Mbps each, while the current WALKair 1000 offers services which are optimised for less bandwidth-demanding users of 4Mbps.
Dr. Jan Rittaler, CEO of ArcTel, Germany, said: "Using BWA is the quickest and most cost effective way for us to break into the SME business market. In my opinion, Floware's WALKair system provides the most competitive BWA solution and we will be integrating WALKair 3000 within our infrastructure to increase the bandwidth, provide scalable portions of it and further improve the service we give our customers."
Amnon Yacoby, CEO of Floware, said: "New carriers who want to be competitive should consider alternative strategies to using the networks of the former monopolies. Our mission is to enable them to compete through the implementation of BWA systems. WALKair 3000 will be delivered to customers for field trials towards the end of 2001. We will continue to improve the WALKair products through the development of even more features and services."
